About Calgary
Calgary is the fastest growing city in Canada. Known as the country's oil capital, it is the second-largest centre of corporate headquarters in Canada. This city with a traditional soul and vibrant, dynamic economy has become The Heart of the New West.

Its one million-plus citizens are nestled between the Rocky Mountains to the west and rich prairie fields to the East. This beautiful city is located in the southern part of the province of Alberta 220 km from the American border. It sits as the highest city in Canada at an elevation of 1,139 m above sea level. Two rivers traverse the city and accent its landscape. The Bow River flows from the west to the south, while the Elbow River flows north from the south.

Calgary is home to 445 schools (K-12) and three post-secondary institutions-- Mount Royal College; Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and the University of Calgary. In fact, 69% of Calgarians have a post-secondary education making it the most educated population in the county. The annual world-renowned Calgary Stampede and the 1988 Winter Olympic Games have made Calgary accustomed to hosting the world.
