T. Mikuriya AwardAlberta high school students who have been accepted into an existing exchange program with a Japanese school are eligible for the T. Mikuriya Award, worth up to $1,500 to cover the costs of the exchange. This award is for one academic year, although applicants for one-semester exchanges may receive a pro-rated award. The exchange must take place while in high school. Recipients are selected based on their demonstrated interest in Japanese language and culture, their academic performance and by the recommendation of their principal in Alberta. To apply please download the T. Mikuriya Award application form and return it to: International Education Branch
Applications are due June 30th for studies commencing in September and January 31st for studies commencing in April.
Mr. Tomatsu Mikuriya was an Albertan of Japanese heritage who passed away in 1989. His surviving family in Japan donated part of his estate to a scholarship meant to promote friendship and understanding between Alberta and Japan. |
