About Learning Languages in Alberta
The excellence of Alberta's learning system is maintained by offering students every opportunity to maximize their potential, achieve their goals and succeed in their chosen careers. Alberta students are encouraged to take advantage of the many educational choices available to them, including a variety of language-learning options.
Research supports that learning a second language is beneficial for students—it really does not matter which language they choose. Knowing the benefits of second language learning and the realities of the global marketplace, it is in our students' best interests to learn a second language before graduating from high school.
