In September 2005, Alberta Education began implementing a requirement for 30 minutes of Daily Physical Activity (DPA) for all students in Grades 1–9.

The Trek Across Alberta Teacher's Guide is a resource that was developed as an Alberta Education Centennial project. The guide encourages Kindergarten to Grade 6 teachers and students to explore the province through 30 sites linked to a relevant Alberta Community Development Web page that challenges students with grade-specific activities linked to various curricular outcomes.
