• Operating Support includes funding to address teacher salaries and benefits, teacher aides, special education programs, textbooks, instructional materials, libraries, and counseling services.
• Teachers’ Pension Plan includes contributions made by government on behalf of teachers. Government pays 50% of the contributions for teachers’ current service pension obligations ($187 million) and 67% of the obligations for the unfunded liability ($152 million).
• Basic Education Programs includes funding to support programs such as high-speed network connections to Alberta SuperNet, and support for teaching and learning resources.
• Private Schools funding includes support to private schools and Private ECS Operators who provide Early Childhood Services (ECS) programs for young children.
• School Facilities includes funding for Plant Operations and Maintenance ($395 million), School Construction ($258 million), and Infrastructure Maintenance Renewal for existing facilities ($81 million).
• Program and Ministry Support includes services that provide support to school authorities and teachers, such as curriculum development, achievement testing, and program evaluation.
