Alberta Education Celebrates the Province's Centennial

Song Writing Intensive

Song Writing Intensive

River Valley School
Tip Your Hat

Verse 1:
At the foothills of the Rockies
On the banks of the old red deer
Sits a little town called Sundre
Full of beauty through the year

Verse 2:
Cowboy trail winds through town
With cowpokes herdin' cattle
On horseback in the mountains
Sittin' high upon their saddle

Chorus:
We're building a better future
It's beautiful and bright
On the wings of our eagle
Our minds have taken flight
And we'll try as hard as we can
To make our mural grand
Getting friends to join us
And lend a helping hand
At the River Valley School
At the River Valley School

Verse 3:
With the changing of the seasons
The little creek has froze
She begins to break-up
When that old chinook wind blows

Verse 4:
Cowboys and trick riders
Bucking broncos star in June
Mutton bustin', barrel racin'
Tip your hat and come back soon

Chorus

(Written on November 2, 2005 by Grades 4-6 students at River Valley School, Sundre with Mary Kieftenbeld and John wort Hannam as part of the Alberta Education centennial project Song Writing Intensive.)
