Message To School Principals:
As part of the province's Centennial celebrations, the Government of Alberta is providing each student in Kindergarten to Grade 12 with a special commemorative medallion and an accompanying letter from Premier Klein.
We are asking for your cooperation in distributing a medallion and a letter to each student at your school.
The quantities in your shipment are based on your survey figures submitted to the department earlier this year.
If you have extras or need additions, please contact your central office.
We are asking that medallions and letters be distributed to high schools first and then to elementary and junior high schools.
This will allow the medallions to be included in as many graduation ceremonies as possible.
If you are planning to host a celebration around the medallions, you may want to consider inviting your local MLA or Centennial Ambassador to take part.
For a list of Centennial Ambassadors go to http://www.albertacentennial.ca/programs/ambassador.aspx.
These medallions were designed specifically for Alberta students.
Jurisdictions are not only receiving a medallion for each student in school today, but also for all home-schooled and outreach students, as well as kindergarten students entering school in the fall.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact me at Virginia.stephen@gov.ab.ca, or call 644-6821 (toll free by dialing 310-0000 first).
Thank you for helping make this a memorable Centennial year for your students
